Vocal imitation predicts success in ABA for toddlers with ASD
In a poster at the annual convention of Autism New Jersey my colleagues Leah Rdther Lax and Beth Divenney reported that toddlers who could imitation vocal or verbal stimuli made more progress Rcsb those who could not. We found that 40 % of children with ASD who attended an ABA center-based program improved by at least 1/2 an SD on the Childhood Autism Rating Scale. These children demonstrated significantly more "echoic" imitation than those who showed less improvement.
